Director Rebecca Miller and her film The Private Lives of Pippa Lee

Rebecca Miller The Connecticut Film Festival recently asked Corey Boutilier of IndependentFilm.com to interview Rebecca Miller for a special screening of her new film. The advance screening was held in Danbury, CT at the Palace Theater on Main St. where part of her film was shot. Connecticut adopted film tax credits to attract filmmaking in the state which this film was able to enjoy. This special introduction video screened to a sold out audience with over 450 attendees. An impressive feat by CT Film Festival Director Tom Carruthers who organized the event in just two weeks which also featured appetizers, beer and wine. This film is distributed by Screen Media Films.

SD at the SB: Pete Townshend's windmills help power the Who's sturdy Super Bowl set

MIAMI GARDENS -- Much like a sly ol' football coach playing up a star's "injury"... only to unleash him healthy and hellbent come gametime, the Who's Pete Townshend has been moaning lately that he's too old to pull off his...

MIAMI GARDENS – So there we were, the three amigos, hanging on the Super Bowl XLIV sidelines of Sun Life Stadium: Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore and yours truly. Okay, there might have been a few others in our vicinity, and...

SD at the SB: A mess o' fun at South Beach

SOUTH BEACH – The weeklong celebration of Super Bowl XLIV spread out all over South Florida, from the journalistic masses shlumping through Fort Lauderdale (that's me) to the Diddy-obsessed pretties strutting through twinkly Miami. But the epicenter of the mania...

Why I Continue To Fight For My Florida Film Industry
By Grady Bishop

I have come to realize years ago being a person who doesn't try to make change, or find solutions can not become victorious. Mostly because they aren't willing to go from victim to victor because it's easier to sit back watch TV and blame everyone else for their problems. It's also from being lazy and not caring for others.

Then their are those who-- To take a racing term Draft off others. They do this fo… Continue

Is the iPad a Media Game Changer?

Media companies are reeling right now. Advertising has fallen flat and introducing free content to the public has been a death sentence for many corporations. In desperate times they can only hope for a savior to come and sweep them up. For some media companies, Apple has been an imperfect savior.

Who Let Ratings Take Over?

Regardless of what side you're on in the ever-intensifying Leno v. Conan debate (okay let's be serious, if you know how to use a computer and know what a blog is you're probably on Team Coco) the one point that most people can agree on is that NBC really handled this in the worst way possible. First, the rumors started on TMZ, and once TMZ gets hold of a story it's usually only true 50% of the time and is huge news 100% of the time. When the story broke, Conan denied any knowledge of it, because well, he had no idea it was the case.

R We Gettin Dumb or Smarter?

A game changing event can always bring upon a polarizing effect. Being no stranger to this, the Internet has cultivated a dilemma by bringing into light the effects it has on our intelligence. Many are split on the Internet's propensity to spur knowledge or degenerate brain cells. Naysayers have articulated that the Internet is simply making us stupid.

Out with the New, In with the Old

In 2009, we saw media outlets continue their experiment of supplying free ad-supported content. While this new idea was a common trend, it didn't necessarily mean it was profitable. For many traditional mediums such as nightly news programs and newspapers, adapting to this new business model still resulted in hemorrhaging cash. If 2009 taught the media anything, it's that you can't count on ad space to provide you a life line.
